Sara Glynn-Dishaw, Music Director

Sara Glynn-Dishaw is Zion’s music leader.

Sara got her start as a musician at the early age of 3 on the family piano, and even as a young child she enjoyed creating music for and with other. As she grew up in Bullock Creek, she excelled in music by continuing her piano lessons, playing the French horn, achieving numerous local awards and distinctions, and eventually accepting a scholarship to continue piano in college.

As a college student in the CMU school of Music, she added pipe organ to her instrumental studies. She served as Zion’s organist from 1997-2005.

Sara has also worked in the field of education, teaching music and other subjects to over 2,000 public school students and holds a Masters degree in Elementary Education from SVSU. In 2005 she was recognized by the VFW as the Elementary Teacher of the Year for the state of Michigan, largely because of her conscientious efforts to teach all of her students how to sing our national anthem and other  patriotic and American folk songs, as well as the history behind those tunes.

Recently, Sara has been working to further improve her vocal ability, and is currently a soprano singer in the Harmony Diversity Choir.

Sara lives in Bullock Creek with her husband and three sons. She enjoys organic gardening, raising chickens and ducks, and is a fierce advocate for mental health awareness.
