Robert G. Schmidt
Pr. Rob has served Zion for 15 years. He is married to Sue, who is the director of the Freeland Cooperative preschool. They have four adult children, two of them married.
Serving community and creating a welcoming atmosphere of faith, healing and inclusion meeting people in their present moment and circumstance inviting growth through love and grace is central to Pastor Rob’s understanding of God and theology.
Pastor Rob enjoys hunting, fishing and walking with Sadie their family dog. Cooking and making a mess in the kitchen or out on the grill are also relaxing for Pr.
Pr. Rob believes “We are all on a spiritual journey that works best with honesty, open mindedness and willingness to grow into a loving grace filled God. Seeking that growth and living into God’s love is not always easy, but promised as God’s love is always present”
Pr. is always willing meet with anyone in the community to discuss life, faith, present circumstances and how the church may share in that journey.

Allison manages the day to day operations at Zion.
A native of Ohio, Allison has been in the Great Lakes Bay Region since 2012, when she moved here for an internship with Habitat for Humanity. Allison worships at Trinity Episcopal Church in Bay City, where she is an active choir member. She also sings with the Exultate Deo Chamber Choir, and routinely makes music as a guest musician in churches all over the region.
When not at work or making music, Allison enjoys gardening, quilting, and camping.

Billy cares for custodial needs of Zion, and ensures all are welcomed to worship with a clean and inviting environment.
Billy grew up in Bay City, and has been in the area for the majority of his life. He has been blessed with six grandchildren, and spends as much time as possible with them. Billy also enjoys watching movies and playing basketball.
Renee serves Zion as the Wedding Coordinator, guiding each couple through the logistics of their special day.
Renee is a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church. In addition to worshiping and being a generally active member, Renee has volunteered in the nursery and Sunday School programs.
Renee graduated from Saginaw Valley State University, was married at Zion, and has a beautiful daughter. For the last 4 years, she has been a mentor to various Hemlock Robotic teams. She became the Wedding Coordinator in 2002. Since then, she has had the pleasure of assisting multiple Pastors with many wonderful couples on their wedding day. According to Renee, the best part of her role at Zion is being able to help each wedding be unique and special.
